Guide to the diagnosis and treatment of dysphonia
Main Article Content
Abstract
Dysphonia is defined as an alteration in voice production, caused by changes in airflow or in the vibratory capacity of the vocal folds; it may be associated with local or systemic symptoms such as dysphagia, globus vocalis, dyspnea and even weight loss. Although most disorders that produce dysphonia are benign and self-limiting, the presence of recurrent symptoms may indicate more serious progressive pathologies that require a timely medical diagnosis.
