Abstract

Allergic rhinitis is an inflammatory disease of the nasal mucosa mediated by immunoglobulin E (IgE) and induced by exposure to an inhaled allergen. Characteristic symptoms include hyaline rhinorrhea, nasal itching, sneezing, and nasal obstruction and ocular symptoms; It has a prevalence between 5-50% among the world population. It is classified according to the frequency of symptoms. Treatment is based on environmental, medical and surgical management.
